The Kerala Blasters’ management added some Brazilian flavour to their squad with the announcement of Jairo Rodrigues Peixoto Filho. The 26-year-old Brazilian centre back has previously played for various Asian clubs like Persela Lamongan in Indonesia and Montedio Yamagata in Japan. He has also represented Azerbaijanian club Neftçi PFK in the Europa League Qualifiers. The 6ft 3in centre back is known to be quick at his feet making it difficult for the opposition to dribble past him.
A youth product of Brazilian club Santos FC, Jairo should add good balance to the defensive unit that comprises of captain Sandesh Jinghan and Zuiverloon. Having conceded 28 goals last season (only behind Pune who conceded 30), coach Eelco and the management seem to have fixed the problems at the back with the addition of Jairo. As the team prepares for the preseason camp in UAE and the season starting on October 20th, the fans are excited to see how things pan out for the team in yellow.
